Outsource app development An app that keeps working.
Long after launch day.
YouBar builds mobile apps and web apps for Dutch and European companies and founders. From first idea to publication in the App Store and Play Store, and the maintenance after that. With senior engineers in Morocco who are available during your working day.
Web app, mobile app, or both?
The first question when you outsource app development isn't which technology, but where your users are. A web app runs straight in the browser, on any device, with no installation and no app store approval. For internal tools, customer portals and most B2B products, that is often the fastest and cheapest route.
A mobile app is the right choice when users open it on their phone every day, when you need push notifications, the camera or location, or when app store discovery is part of your growth. Many products end up with both: a web app for administration and a mobile app for end users. We help you make that call before any code is written.
Native or cross-platform: an honest trade-off.
A native app is built separately for iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin). You get the best performance and full access to everything the device can do, but you maintain two codebases.
With a cross-platform approach such as React Native or Capacitor, you share most of the code between iOS, Android and sometimes the web. That saves build and maintenance work. The cost is that heavy animation or deep hardware integration can take extra effort.
We have no preference out of habit. We choose per project, based on what the app needs to do, who uses it and what your team will need to maintain later.
From idea to App Store: how app development works.
Every engagement follows the same shape, though the scale differs per project. We give you a timeline once the scope is clear, not before.
- Discovery: together we map the problem, the users and the core of the first version. What do we deliberately leave out?
- Clickable design: you see and test the app before it's built. Changes are still cheap here.
- First version: we build in visible steps. You test along the way on your own phone.
- Launch: we handle publication in the App Store and Play Store, including Apple's and Google's review.
- Iteration: based on real usage, we decide together what comes next.
What to have ready as a founder.
You don't need a technical background or an in-house team to have an app built. We translate technical choices into business terms and make trade-offs visible. It does help to be clear on a few things.
- Who the app is for and which problem it solves for them.
- What the first version must do, at minimum, to deliver value.
- How the app makes money or saves costs.
- A budget range, so we can shape the scope around it.
- Who makes decisions on your side and has time to test along the way.
You choose the team behind your app.
We quote per role. Pick a profile and see how the split between senior, medior and junior shifts, so you know exactly what you pay for.

The backend behind your app.
An app is rarely just a screen. Behind most apps sits a backend with user accounts, payments, admin screens and integrations with systems such as a CRM or accounting package. That backend decides whether your app stays reliable as usage grows.
Tanmiyah is a good example: a SaaS platform for mosques and Islamic organisations in the Netherlands, with member administration, automatic contribution collection and class scheduling. We build and maintain it end to end, with 99.99% uptime and monitoring behind it.
Maintenance starts after launch.
Apple and Google release new versions of iOS and Android every year and keep changing their app store requirements. An app that isn't kept up to date gradually works worse, or even disappears from the store.
That's why we stay available after launch: for updates, security, monitoring and new features. If you'd rather handle maintenance yourself or with another team, we document everything and hand it over properly.
Apps and platforms we build and maintain.
From a SaaS platform to our own product with a browser extension. This is work that runs live and that you can check.

Tanmiyah is a SaaS product YouBar builds and maintains: an all-in-one administration system for mosques and Islamic organisations in the Netherlands, covering member administration, automatic contributions and class scheduling.

simplytime is YouBar's own product: time tracking for teams, and nothing else. A web app, a Chrome extension that starts a timer from a Jira or GitLab issue, and a public API, with a complete record of every change to every entry.

Who owns the App Store and Play Store developer account?
+×
You do. We publish the app under your own Apple and Google developer accounts, so the app, its reviews and its users always belong to your company.
Can you take over an existing app?
+×
Yes. We start with a review of the code, infrastructure and documentation. Then we tell you honestly what's solid, what's risky, and whether continuing or rebuilding makes more sense.
Do you build for iOS and Android at the same time?
+×
Usually, yes. A cross-platform approach lets you launch on both platforms from one codebase. If the app calls for native development, we plan both platforms deliberately side by side.
Can I have an app built without technical knowledge?
+×
Yes. You don't need your own development team. We explain choices in plain language, challenge unnecessary features and let you test along the way on your own phone.
Who owns the code?
+×
You do. The contract includes an explicit assignment of intellectual property. Code, documentation and infrastructure are in your name or handed over on delivery.
What does it cost to have an app developed?
+×
That depends on scope, platforms and team composition. We quote per role and seniority, so you can see where the budget goes. A first call quickly gives you a realistic picture.
